In short: Maik Club does not ask you to sign up, or for your name or email. The app works with an anonymous identifier created on your phone. We use it to know whether you have a premium subscription, to measure anonymously how the app is used and, if you are a free user, to show you ads. Personalised ads are only shown if you consent.
The controller of the data processed by the Maik Club app is Xavier Balada, who develops and publishes it as an individual.
For any privacy question, write to hola@soymaik.com.
The first time you open the app, a random identifier is created that is not linked to your name, email or phone number. It lets the server know which content you can read (free or premium) and links your subscription, if you have one, to that identifier.
If you subscribe, payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see or store your payment details. Through the RevenueCat service, we receive the information needed to know whether your subscription is active, which plan you have and when it expires or renews.
We measure in aggregate how the app is used in order to improve it: for example, whether the welcome screens are completed, whether notifications are accepted, which pieces are opened and read to the end, whether the final card is saved or shared, and whether the subscription screen is visited. These events are linked to the anonymous identifier and do not include your name, email or precise location. We use PostHog, with servers in the European Union.
If you use the free version, the app shows ads through Google AdMob. To do so, Google and its advertising partners may process device identifiers and technical data.
Premium users do not see ads.
Your preferences (language, time of the daily notification, whether you have seen the welcome screens) and the pieces we keep for offline reading are stored only on your device. Daily notifications are scheduled on the phone itself: we do not send notifications from a server.
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Providing the service and managing the subscription | Performance of the contract you accept by using the app or subscribing |
| Anonymous usage metrics | Legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app, using pseudonymised data |
| Personalised ads | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Non-personalised ads | Legitimate interest in funding the free version |
Only with providers that deliver services to us and that process data on our instructions or under their own policies as independent controllers:
| Provider | Purpose | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Content server and anonymous identifier | European Union (Frankfurt) |
| RevenueCat | Subscription status | United States |
| Apple and Google | Subscription payments and app distribution | Under their policies |
| Google AdMob | Ads and consent management | Under its policy |
| PostHog | Usage metrics | European Union |
Where a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer relies on the safeguards provided by law, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
We do not sell your data.
We keep the anonymous identifier and subscription status for as long as you use the app and, afterwards, for as long as needed to meet legal obligations or deal with possible claims. Usage metrics are kept in aggregate to analyse how the app evolves. If you delete the app, the data stored on your phone is deleted with it.
You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability, and withdraw your consent, by writing to hola@soymaik.com. Because we do not ask for identifying data, we may need you to tell us your device's identifier to find your information.
If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or to the data protection authority where you live.
Maik Club is not aimed at children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page with its update date. If the change is significant, we will also let you know in the app.
